Did Event 201 Predict the Pandemic?

A couple years ago there was an event called ‘Event 201’. The event was held on October 18, 2019 in New York by the John Hopkins Center for Health Security, in partnership with the World Economic Forum and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The scope of this event was to model a global pandemic, called event 201- a severe pandemic.

Event 201 simulated an outbreak of a coronavirus transmitted from bats to pigs to people that eventually became efficiently transmissible from person to person, causing the pandemic. Continuing with event 201, the pandemic continued for 18 months, spread across the world and resulted in 65 million deaths. The pandemic began slowing due to

the decrease in the number of susceptible people. The pandemic continued to rise until a vaccine was introduced or until 80-90% of the global population had been exposed to the virus. From that point, it is likely to be an endemic childhood disease.

Keep in mind this event took place before the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Wuhan during December 2019. However, the host’s of event 201 released a statement in January 2020 saying that they modeled a fictional coronavirus pandemic and that they explicitly stated that it was an exercise, not a prediction. One other video that ties into all of this is a TED talk hosted by Bill Gates in 2015, where he predicted a pandemic would occur in the following years in response to the Ebola virus from 2014. He touches on the potential of a virus where people are well enough to continue with their day although infected. He also preached that we should start now (2014) in preparation for the next global pandemic.
